Explainable Security in Distributed Systems

Cybersecurity is more important than ever, and with the increasing complexity of attacks, their countermeasures also get more complex. As a result - especially with the rise of AI - being able to judge whether and how Security is achieved can be quite cumbersome and complicated. In my research, I'm trying to find new and innovative ways to make Security more explainable and transparent, not only with Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) but also with "classical" non-AI approaches, e.g., XSec.

Longevity and Sustainability of Software Systems

Writing code is easy1. Writing good and long-lasting code is hard(er). In my opinion, it is crucial to develop software sustainably for both economic and ecological reasons. Software aging, technical debt, and maintainability are already having a major impact on software development today, and with ever more sophisticated systems, this will be even more evident in the foreseeable future. For this reason, I'm looking into Software Qualities, with a special remark on longevity and sustainability to improve existing and introduce beneficial practices.
